In this unit on Design we explored the work that goes behind the creation of many everyday objects. We examined and redesigned everything from the common desk to the classic lawn gnome. For their final projects, the students were able to design the packaging for a new product. The product design had one major requirement, it had to in some way relate to the student. This turned a simple design project into a more in depth self portrait. From a volcano in a box to a pop out ice rink these products are as unique and special as the students themselves.
In this unit, students work to understand the job of an Architect by designing their own dream buildings. From castles to space stations students proved that the sky really is the limit when you use your creativity. This lesson allowed students to explore shading and perspective, helping them learn how to bring new levels of details to their drawings.
